Before you head out to The Ropes of Southern Utah, make sure you’re dressed for it. Most activities involve movement, climbing, and being on your feet, so what you wear directly affects how much you’re able to do once you’re here.
Closed-toe athletic shoes are required for the high ropes course, zipline, and axe throwing. Sandals, slides, Crocs, clogs, and anything open-toed won’t be allowed on the course. If you don’t have proper footwear, you won’t be able to participate.
For ropes course levels 2–5 and the zipline, participants must meet safety requirements including height and weight limits. If you’re unsure about anything before you arrive, it’s always best to reach out ahead of time so there are no surprises.

Do we all have to do the same activities, or can our group split up?
No, your group does not need to stay together for every activity at The Ropes of Southern Utah, and most groups naturally split based on comfort level and interest. This makes it easy for families and mixed groups visiting near Zion to enjoy the experience without pressure.
What if I show up without the right shoes?

Is this actually safe for kids and first-timers?

The construction and operation of our ropes course and zip line course meets or surpasses the Association for Challenge Course Technology’s (ACCT) standards. Our course was designed and installed by Synergo; a Professional Vendor Member (PVM) of ACCT. Synergo also provides the training for our guides and completes our periodic course inspections. Daily inspections of the course and all equipment are done by The Ropes of Southern Utah guides. Do adults have to participate with kids on the ropes course?
Yes, children under the height requirement must be accompanied by a paid chaperone on certain ropes courses at The Ropes of Southern Utah in Hurricane, Utah. How are guests supervised on the course?
All guests receive a safety briefing before entering the course. Our trained staff monitor participants throughout each session and are available to assist if needed.
While parents are welcome to observe, children must meet the required age guidelines for each course level.
Are the courses divided by age or difficulty?
Yes. Our courses are structured by age and challenge level to ensure an appropriate experience for every guest.
Age 4–6 → Beginner Levels
Age 7–10 → Intermediate Levels
11+ → Advanced Courses
Each level increases in height and obstacle difficulty. Staff will help guide guests to the appropriate starting level.
Can I drop my child off and leave?
No. The Ropes is not a drop-off activity. While our staff monitor all guests, parents or guardians must remain on-site during the session.
When do sessions start?
New sessions begin at the top of every hour.
Please arrive early enough to check in and complete waivers prior to your scheduled session time. Late arrivals may need to wait for the next available session.
When is the last session of the day?
The final session begins 2 hours before closing time.
We recommend planning accordingly to ensure you have enough time to complete your experience.
What happens if it’s windy?
For guest safety, sessions may be delayed or rescheduled if wind gusts exceed 30 MPH.
If weather conditions require closure, our team will assist with rescheduling options.
Are there any health restrictions?
Guests who have experienced recent illness, injury, surgery, or are pregnant should speak with staff prior to participating to determine if the course is appropriate.
